Snapshots From A Mom: Series Nine ~ B/W Photography Portfolio

Well, I have come to the end of this series and would like to move forward and discover something new or just do something different. When I started this series I mentioned that my portfolio was in storage and that I would like to show some of my old black and white photography to you. I am a total amateur at photography but do love to capture images. I must confess these were take a very long time ago but as promised I dug them out of storage and here they are.

Have a wonderful week!

Behind The Party ~ Let's Play Ball

I am so happy to share my first birthday party inspiration with you today.  This party was from my older son's six birthday party last September. We live in the city and thankfully we have a courtyard that is a soccer size field (grassy area) that we call our backyard.  My son loves sports so his idea was to have a sports party in our backyard. The invitations were inspired by his favorite color green and favorite sport baseball.  Well, I was pretty much set for the design of the invitation thanks to his ideas. My boys have allergies so I usually make the cupcakes for any party and this was no exception. The new icing I used for the cupcakes proved to be a challenge.  I was disappointing it was more like a glaze then icing (note to self ~ don't experiment with new products when you are on a time crunch).  I had no time to fix the icing fiasco. Thank goodness the cupcakes tasted good and the parents were nice enough not to say how interesting they looked. In full disclosure no one got sick eating my cupcakes.

This party was my realization and jumping off point for starting my business.  It was a lot of hard work being a baker, designer, stylist, hostess, photographer, and planner.  I needed some time to recover. However, in the end we had a great time and that is all that really matters. My son was so happy and had lots of fun with his friends! Here are some photos of the party. I hope you enjoy seeing what I did for my son's birthday.  The invitations I designed for the party are in the shop now.

Have a great rest of the week. Hope to post on Friday, we will just have to see how the week goes.

Snapshots From A Mom: Series eight ~ My Sunshine

I am so blessed to wake up to this beautiful face every morning! Although he is six now and the baby face has developed into a little boy face, I am so glad I can look back on photos like this and remember the baby phase of our lives together.

Have a great week.

Special Feature~ArtisticWill Studios

I went to my mailbox this morning to check the mail. I was hoping to see a package waiting for me. Sure enough it was there! How fun to get a package in the mail, especially when you know it’s from a great artisan like my friend Haruka. She is the sweetest person you will ever have the pleasure to meet. She creates beautiful hand-painted glitter keepsakes.  Thank you to the fabulous ArtisticWill Studios for the wonderful daffodil pendant. I love how it sparkles. I love my beautiful necklace and I am so glad that I could share my experience with you. Please check her out at ArtisticWill.etsy.com and zazzle.com/artisticwillstudios

Snapshots From A Mom: Series Eight ~ Brothers Two

Good Monday, I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day weekend!  Let me just say how blessed I am to have these two boys in my life.  We have such a busy life that sometimes it's hard to to stop and take a moment to reflect on the little things in our life.  When I look at this photo I am reminded how time passes so fast and it reminds me to slow down and enjoy the moment.  So dear readers, I hope you take some time today to slow down and enjoy a small moment in your life.  Have a great week!

Special Feature~Mompreneur~ Mommy Makover

What an exciting week this has been!  I typically shy away from the spotlight, but this week, I was literally in the spotlight!  Okay, here is what happened... I was featured as a Mompreneur to have a Mommy Makeover!  There were two moms selected by Crave Charlotte to be featured for a special Mother's Day makeover cover story on our local morning news.  Wow, what a fun experience it was. You may notice some photos of me here on my blog, but those are from about 4 years ago or maybe longer.  This Mommy Makeover could not come at a better time.  You see, I have been tirelessly working since January on getting my business up and running along with taking care of my family.  In March I finally launched my Henderson Creative Design Studio.  I am a little frazzled to say the least.  A fresh look is just what I needed at a time like this.  I am so grateful for the experience I had with the makeover team.  They did a great job putting me together!  I have come to the realization that no matter how busy we may think we are, there is always time to try and look your best.  Now, if only I could drop 10-20 pounds, I would be rock'in! Hahaha.... Oh, I guess that will go on my growing To-Do List!!

To all you Mom's out there: Happy Mother's Day!

Snapshots From A Mom: Series Seven

Happy Monday!
Today's post is short and sweet!  The photo I choose is dear to my heart.  I love to catch unexpected moments on my camera.  This photo was taken six years ago when little M was a baby.  We were on a boat ride with my sister-in-law ( I adore her).  The sunlight floods the two of them and almost makes them into silhouettes.  I edited this photo in Photoshop.  I used the Adjustment Curves to pull out the light and Gaussian Blur to soften the over all image.  Before I flatted the image I made the image Mode into a Duotone. With the little editing I did I was able to make a nice keepsake photo for the family album.
Have a great week!
